Cordless drills: a revolution in the hands of a common man

The innovation of light weight, powerful and rechargeable batteries like the Li-ion battery or the nickel-metal hydride batteries have revolutionised the way we do our repairing works at home, or the way expert repairers work. With the help of these batteries, many utility tools manufacturing companies have created utility tools such as the cordless drills. These drills are similar in function like that of a normal corded drill. These drills can exert equal amount of pressure and other features are also in tact. However, cordless drills are much more convenient than the normal corded drills, as there are no cords, so no question of a restricted reach.

There are two kinds of manufacturers of cordless drills. The first are those companies who manufacture cordless drills for home owners. In this category, we have companies like Ryobi, Skil, Craftsmen, Black & Decker and so on. The second are those companies which manufacture heavy duty cordless drills for professionals. In this group, we have companies like Bosch, DeWalt, Hitachi, Makita, Milwaukee, Porter-Cable, and Ridgid. The cordless drills manufactured by the latter companies are pricier and are strictly for professional use.

Among all the companies, DeWalt cordless drills are one of the best known and also the most commonly used cordless drills in the world. DeWalt has a long history of making every kind of utility tools, starting from the hammer to the drills. The company has also been making the DeWalt cordless drills for more than a decade.

But very recently, there have been some controversies regarding the recent supply of DeWalt cordless drills. However, the DeWalt company was professional and responsible enough to make a voluntary recall of many of its DeWalt cordless drills, as it posed alleged fire hazard. Although not a single incidence of injury or damage to property was reported, yet the company took the decision, keeping in mind its position as an important player in the market of utility tools.

With so many cordless drills brands available in the market, it is important to identify your usage and reputation of the company, before buying one. For home use, high voltage drills are not required. Any drill can do the work of nailing a hanging on your home’s wall.
