Where once furniture design was driven largely by classical and industrial design, today, it is being shaped by visual graphic design of lightness and high tech production processes.
Furniture design continues to evolve and current trends indicate that the main style statement is global with influences from various continents coming into play to give us the designs and furniture creations of today. These international influences spread across the furniture industry from animal print fabrics to leather which never goes out of style. There is an eclectic mix of wood with fabric, wood and metal, metal and glass all transcending the classical.
The current Houston furniture trend is to go Modern, which style is manifested in vibrant designs with clean lines, simplicity and functionality. Some of the famous architects of Modern furniture design today are Hoffman Kubus and Eileen Gray. The current trends in modern furniture design also seem to be developing a close relationship with fashion and accessories pis on function and accessibility
In bygone days furniture conveyed a sense of permanence, a connection to tradition and history.
Modern furniture came to be defined by its visual lightness, simple lines, innovative materials and technology. The Le Corbusier chaise lounge, Eileen Gray side table and Bertoia wire chairs are all fantastic examples of modern furniture.
Current furniture trends show us that today’s designers and manufacturers continue to be innovative, seeking new materials with which to produce unique furniture along the lines of simplicity and lightness as opposed to the heavy ornamental furniture of old.
Most of the furniture designs were produced in the mid twentieth century but are still regarded internationally as the symbols of Modern furniture. This furniture showcases sophistication and a futuristic look that is in keeping with world today.
You can give free reign to your individuality, making it come alive in your furniture statement. Reinforce and reflect your individuality through your furniture.
