Getting Your Song Idea Underway

I had to write up a bleeding diagram the other day for the means I must to grasp to get a song/lyric from idea to completion. You might find it useful;

1./ You are walking down the road judgment regarding nothing in particular. One musing leads to another and promptly you are struck by what seems to be a great idea. A scene arrives waiting to be fleshed out. This is steadily called ' The Muse'. Any bit of inspiration or reflect that passes by is laudable of pursuing. It might come from your march down the road or it might come from an employ such as item text. item text is the means of text from your senses regarding a particular object/thing/person/place or time, inside a set time enclose of 5 or ten action.

2./ If your great idea has not come from item text then you must to do some; Find a composed place to set manually up using pen and notebook, or word laptop if you're notepad oriented. Set a stopwatch or timer, most itinerant phones have one these being, and write for 10 action on your theme. For example this morning I came up using the scene of "losing altitude". This could be regarding a relationship managing out of steam or unbeaten a dip or open through a chapter of turbulence, so, the challenge is to get images linked to the scene and make them into useable phrases for our song. Here's some example writing;

Losing encourage, we're reducing down, my belly is left up in the sky where. down encourage, who's in restrain of this aircraft? I've got my hand on the helm, but you keep wrestling them elsewhere. While we're wrestling the aircraft is open into a dive and we're down encourage. The ground is rotating up to encounter us, I want to hurdle out of this aircraft and be boundless wheeling on a parachute, pulling my own cords, not be your pawn on a twist. etc.

Usually you can find a few better phrases from your river of consciousness feel based text that can be precious to develop on, which is part 3.

3./ choice key terms or themes from your foremost idea and find rhymes. I am a great fan of the methods of Pat Pattison of Berklee song academy. In his book text Better Lyrics Pat advocates that we not just look for foolproof rhymes, but also family rhymes, assonant rhymes and near rhymes. So, from our example we might look at the terms encourage, reducing, sky, restrain, aircraft, dive, down, rotating, parachute and cords, to find a folder of rhymes we can use.

For "altitude" you might try: seclusion, liberty, fixed, unscrewed, voodooed, argued, stewed, mood and disagree. Now any of those combinations can open up a world of possibilities,but if you cane 'on theme' you might get a sedan of rhyming nature like;

Hey, I know we argued
and you're in a terrible mood
but, I'm feat for my parachute, 'cos , [ I brought in one of the other key terms which happened to be a near rhyme]
baby, we're down encourage.

Not the climax prose in the world but a initial goal. What regarding dive? drive, test-drive, disembark, outlive, living, real-life, bravado of life.

We're in a nose dive
this isn't a test-drive
if we're gonna survive
somebody's gonna have to go and get the bravado of life.

4./ Once you've got a few more dreams flowing try to rumor live your song and work out if there is a narrative bleeding. What will apiece part of the song say? To bear on the example, part one could be; boy and daughter are open on festival they are airborne and he thinks that there are troubles in the relationship. Part 2 could be the woman's perspective, what she thinks is offend. Part 3, a passable, might be them singing out calamity scenarios, and a final verse might be a glad sojourn as they are prophecy in to disembark at their destination, down encourage, but in a controlled way. Could this journey be a piece to reawaken the romance?

5./ change the foremost idea with new lyrical/rhyming dreams inside the rumor board

6./ If you're fixed for a cadenced idea try to find it from the operating name of the song. Our operating name of "losing altitude" could be broken up to deputize he following; Loo-vigor-al-ti-tude or, ta Tum ta ta Tum. Try ta Tum ta ta Tum at different speeds to see what matches the 'feel' of the song.

7./ plus language out loud some of your forceful prose and rhyme to see how it might fit onto the rhythm and plus boring out enjoyable dreams

8./Hit the "record" close on your undress recorder or notepad and get text, and change, change, change, pending you're done!
