With three colors (silver, black, and red), the BlackBerry RIM 8830 is sure to have business travelers on the go. World travelers can conveniently set about their business while having the capability of roaming a GSM cellphone network. Its dimensions are 2.6" w x 4.4" h x 0.5" deep. It weighs in at 4.7 oz.

The resolution is of very high quality at 320 x 240 pixels with 65,000 colors, offering the user decent viewing on the LCD screen. Applications can be accessed with the trackball navigation tool, and talk, end, menu, and escape buttons make for easy navigation. The backlight on the BlackBerry RIM 8830 self-adjusts for convenience and ease of viewing in all conditions.

Hands free dialing is possible with the BlackBerry RIM 8830 with voice activated dialing and the speakerphone. It is compatible with Bluetooth technology as well.

All applications on the BlackBerry RIM 8830 are state of the art with email, Internet access, organizer, corporate data access, BlackBerry Maps, instant messaging, text messaging, and GPS tracking. It can be easily tethered to a modem on either a PC or laptop while traveling. The phone book allows the storage of up to eight phone numbers per contact. Data speeds are as high as 2.4 Mbps. The flash memory storage is approximately 64 MB in size. A microSD card is available for purchase to store bigger files.

Pros

The BlackBerry RIM 8830 comes in three attractive colors and has many appealing features. It is easy to use and perfect for the world traveling businessperson. It has technology that is keeping up with the times.

The BlackBerry RIM 8830 leans more towards having many positive features. However, there are a few negative things to note.

- The silver color is considered unattractive by many users

- It can get a little clunky and heavy to use for long periods of time

- No camera phone

- Keys on the QWERTY keyboard can be difficult to read.

For the most part, the BlackBerry RIM 8830 is a really great BlackBerry product. It offers all the convenience in technology that business travelers look for. It has several great hands free options. Storage and speeds are high making processing simplistic. This is a great choice for tech gurus.
