San Martino di Castrozza Dolomiti Superski, Italy
Posted: 21.11.2008 | Views: 188San Martino di Castrozza ski resort offers up a lot of class for not a lot of cash. Before you scuff your feet at the ground in the belief that you can't afford a vacation in Italy, take a look at these prices. The pre-season skiing in San Martino begins on the 29th of November and runs till the 23rd of December. A pre-season six day ski pass will run €176 for an adult, €123 for a junior and €158 for a senior. The high season comes in two parts, with part one beginning on the 24th of December till the 6th of January. The second part of the high season begins on the 1st of February till the 14th of March. A six day individual ski pass will cost €220 for an adult, €155 for a junior and €198 for a senior. These ski passes are for six days within San Martino di Castrozza. A single day pass will cost (give or take) €30.
If you want to stay in the San Martino de Castrozza for your vacation, then you'll have access to three black runs, eleven red runs, eighteen blue runs and just five green runs. As the stats attest, intermediates are going to find the most choices in San Martino. However, there are 28 total ski lifts, so 3,000 people per hour will have access to the 60 km of slopes available here alone. The highest vertical you can achieve on the slopes is 1290 meters with highest lift going as far as 2740 meters. The lowest piste fluctuates around 1470 meters with the San Martino di Castrozza resort resting at 1450 meters. The area is known as the Alpine Capital, and it's no wonder with so many brushy conifers, woody alpine forests and heaps of trees to go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
If, however, you want to have more access to the entire Dolomiti Superski region, then the ski pass will cost you more, but you'll have a lot of more pistes to choose from. The Dolomiti Superski Ski Area has over 530 pistes to choose from, with access to over 18 other ski resorts in and around the Dolomites. If you've ever wondered at just how big the Dolomiti Superski area is, then here is your chance to learn. There are 65 black runs, 190 red runs, 260 blue runs and 15 green runs. The highest lift goes an altitude choking 3270 meters with the lowest piste in the whole area stopping at 860 meters. With three international airports within a two hours drive of both San Martino di Castrozza and the Dolomiti Superski ski areas, your next ski vacation plans better include the Dolomites.
As said above, the San Martino di Castrozza and Dolomiti Superski ski areas have some of the best alternative ski agendas in all of Italy, perhaps all of Europe for that matter. The cross-country skiing provides the stress free, snow bound, ski friendly and super fun frills of a ski vacation to remember. There are groomed trails and Nordic trails to follow, with the Trentino area yielding the best of both styles. Additionally, snowshoeing allows you to go your own pace up and down the Dolomites and trails. Traverse through the trees or take a guided walk along some of the best vista endowed ridges around. There are more trails here than can possibly be walked. Or, climb into nature by attaching skins to your skis and climbing up. Afterwards, you will be alone among nature, descending some of the most breathtaking slope landscapes around. You thought you'd have to be Superman to be above the trees. In San Martino and the Dolomiti Superski areas, you can feel like your flying. The entire ski areas are awash in accommodation, restaurants, shopping and apres ski venues—from leisurely to active, you'll find it all!
