The sciatic nerve runs from the lower spinal cord to the back of the leg and foot. Discomfort, irritation or pain caused by a pinching or twisting of the nerve is called sciatica. Injury or trauma to the sciatic nerve results in a burning sensation, sharp pain, tingling or numbness, and continuous or intermittent pain.
The nerve’s anatomical position deep inside the leg has previously made it difficult to treat, but with the advent of spinal decompression, painful conditions relating to the sciatic nerve can now be effectively addressed.

Sciatica is commonly caused by herniated or bulging discs. Excessive vertical pressure causes the disc to protrude placing undue pressure on the sciatic nerve, resulting in discomfort or pain.

Spinal decompression is one of the most effective treatments for sciatica. The vast majority of patients who undergo spinal decompression report great relief from their pain, to the point that it is considered by many in the medical field to be more effective than surgery in the long-term. This is true thanks in large part to the risks associated with surgery, such as incision and anesthesia. In comparison, spinal decompression is a non-invasive, pain-free and drug-free treatment.

Spinal decompression gently reduces the pressure on the discs that separate vertebrae, creating a vacuum that sucks the bulging disc back into its original position. This removes pressure on the sciatic nerve, and thus the cause for most types of back pain.

Spinal decompression is a safe treatment for most spinal conditions, including sciatica. If you are diagnosed with sciatica, consult a physician dealing in spinal decompression to see if you are a candidate for this treatment.
