When Knives Attack

Everyone has watched the amazing action movies where knife attacks are fast-paced and graceful. Sadly, this is not the way the average person should deal with a knife attack. You should never return the attack unarmed and ready to simply yank the knife from their hands. Chances are, you will sustain many serious, if not fatal, wounds by attempting it.

The movies are expertly choreographed. Every move and every return has been analyzed, planned, and carried out beneath the watchful eye of professionals. Just as nearly everything is never as easy as it looks, defending yourself against a knife attack is no different.

In reality, there are several ways to ensure you are safe against a knife attack. These are not glamorous, astounding, and will not amaze others, but it can save your life. There is no reason to jeopardize so much for such a potentially lethal situation.

The first fact to realize is that you are not Chuck Norris. Unless you have had similar education and experience in martial arts you will not throw roundhouse kicks unscathed against a knife attack. This simply gives the attacker ample opportunity to badly damage your leg or even sever your Achilles tendon.

The safest course of action you can take is to run. It may seem a blow to pride or even a humiliating example of cowardice, but it will ensure you live. Most people do have families depending on them in the real world. Their well- stand still, the blows will become far worse. If you can keep them "on their toes" they will be less likely to gain the necessary balance to really deliver serious jabs.

Constantly throw items at them. Even devices such as telephones or keyboards can deliver a slight sting. It will probably benefit you to make as much noise as possible. Many attackers will do anything possible to keep their victims from making noise and alerting others. If you can make as much noise as possible, including yelling or even screaming, the chances that the attack will be brief are far better.

By keeping an eye out for helpful items and ensuring the attacker is in no way accommodated in their mission you ensure your own safety. Never be afraid to cause as much racket as you can during an attack. It will be far better to pay for broken lights or office equipment than to risk months of lost work to recuperate from knife injuries. Your family is far too important to risk such a tragedy as death.
