A salvage yard can be a very dangerous place. This is not only to our health from an accident but also to the environment. There are many ways that this can happen also ways in which we can stop this. Each year over 50,000,000 cars are produced and out of this about 10,000,000 end up in salvage yards due to accidents of some kind. If these cars where left in driveways or sitting in lots then this could cause harmful liquids from the cars to not be properly disposed of and cause harm to us. The salvage yards provide a great place where they can be properly disposed of and the parts that are able to be reused are sold. This is also another way that it helps the environment with a type of recycling. If there are no parts in the vehicle that can’t be reused then the entire vehicle is used for scrap metal.

There are certain laws and regulations that they have to abide by before they can begin operation. They have to pass inspection that includes the way that the parts are stored and also the vehicles. They also have to prove that the disposal methods that they have will not harm anyone or the environment. All this has to be done before they open. They then have to go through regular checks to make sure that nothing has changed. There is also a special license that goes along with this. This is not only limited to the salvage yards in South Dakota but also the other states in America. The EPA makes certain that this is taken care of and that everything goes accordingly.
