The Benefits of Calling Your Friends

We all like to stay in touch with our friends; it’s a good way of finding out what is going on in their lives and telling them what’s happening in yours. But it’s not always possible to meet up face to face to share each other’s news.

In the past we had to rely on letters to send each other messages, but as technology has developed it has given us more ways to keep in touch with each other that are more immediate and more interactive than a letter could ever be.

The internet is a great example of this. It has given us several ways of staying in touch that are often free of charge, such as email and instant messaging for example. But, one of the best ways however is video calling, which enables two people to see each other while they talk – and all from the comfort of their own home computers.

The beauty of using the internet to stay in touch is that it is very simple to get started. All you need to do is make sure you are both using the same software and that you both have the right equipment to get started.

You’ll soon discover that using a camera adds another dimension to your phone call, and it adds many more benefits to making a call. For example, if you haven’t seen your friends for a few weeks and during that time you have been on a diet, you won’t need to tell them how much weight you have lost! You can simply switch on the camera and show them as soon as your call starts.

The addition of a camera to the conversation also makes the call more personal. We’ve all used instant messaging while we have been online, and it’s easy to get distracted and do other things while we are having a conversation. It’s all too easy to let several minutes elapse between replies when using instant messengers, but with a camera the conversation becomes much more immediate. It’s as if the person is sitting right in front of you and so you instantly become more involved in the conversation and connect with your friends on a much more interactive level than you would otherwise.

So long as you are both using the same software you can keep in touch with each other very easily and for free! What’s more, thanks to the addition of a web cam the experience becomes much more than just a simple phone call over the internet, and once you’ve tried it once it’s almost guaranteed to become a staple part of your everyday life.
