Video Game Jargon And What Comes Next

Real Time Strategy (RTS) is a tactical overview type simulation, though not always war-like in nature. Such examples as Warcraft, Starcraft, and Age of Empires have been around for years and are the type that Napoleon Bonaparte would have played if he were around.
First-Person Shooters (FPS) are games presented from the first-person perspective. So it is a very immersive format. Examples: the Halo series, the Half-Life series, and Counterstrike (which is an international sport in and of itself).
Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) WoW (World of Warcraft), Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, City of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies, while typically also in the first-person, they account for an entirely different genre of games.
What will be the next craze in video gaming?
Will virtual reality ever be, well, a reality? We've been talking about it as a society for about 20 years (probably longer, in sci-fi movies, etc.)
Many people think that virtual reality would be too real and too immersive. But then that's what they thought about first person shooters, and we all know that they are harmless...right? Well, that could be debatable!
How about holograms? That would be cool! One thing is for certain: the graphics we're seeing today would have been hard to fathom just 10 years ago! Not to mention that the internet as we know it today was in its infancy back then. We would not even understand the concept of a LAN, let alone a LAN party! My, how far we've come! And so fast!
We may not know what is next just yet, but one thing is for sure: it's bound to be here before we know it, and it's going to be cool. Games are like that.
