Week 5 Best and Worst Matchups
Author: jahrasta311 | Posted: 02.10.2008 | Views: 58Jake Delhomme/Steve Smith (Panthers QB/WR) vs. Kansas City: Finally Steve Smith got on the board last week against Atlanta, rewarding owners who spent a high pick on him despite a 2 game suspension and the looming doubt of his chemistry with the team. Delhomme and Smith get another good matchup this week. Kansas City shocked Denver last week, but that was in their house, and Cutler made mistakes. Carolina has a better running attack to take pressure off of Delhomme as well and Muhsin Muhammad is playing like it's 2004. Get them in your lineup and hope for a couple scores to Smith.
Tony Romo/Terrell Owens/Marion Barber/Jason Witten (Cowboys QB/WR/RB/TE) vs. Cincinnati: What can I say here, but Cincinnati's defense is sorry. Dallas will run up the score here and I'd expect multiple TDs from T.O. and Barber, and at least 1 for Witten. Look for Romo to target Owens early and often after T.O.'s crybaby fit after their loss to Washington.
Steve Slaton (Texans RB) vs. Indianapolis: Slaton has won the starting job and Houston will ride him against a Colts defense that has allowed the 3rd most rushing yards in the NFL, despite being one of the only teams who have had a week off.
Worst Matchups:
Carson Palmer/Chris Perry/Chad Ocho Cinco/T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Bengals QB/RB/WRs) at Dallas: Carson Palmers elbow is still sore and this week is shaping up like last week where he was a gametime scratch (Well, he was active, but as the 3rd QB). Even if he plays, he won't find time to get the ball to his weapons this week and he'll probably turn the ball over multiple times. The only player I would start from the Bengals this week is Houshmandzadeh. However, if Ryan Fitzpatrick or Patrick Fitzryan is at the helm for the Bengals this week, I wouldn't even play Housh.
Ronnie Brown (Dolphins RB) vs San Diego: We all saw what he did against the Patriots, but this week they go up against a tough and determined Chargers defense that hasn't allowed much to RBs (Only 1 TD). Add in the fact that the Bolts get ILB Stephen Cooper back from suspension, a key player in the middle of that defense. The single wing shouldn't find nearly as much success it did last week against an aging New England defense.
