Here we have the businesses most likely to be the big guns among eBay sellers: those who use eBay as their primary, or only, retail outlet, and those who sell other businesses’ odd lots, discontinued items, closeouts, excess inventory, disused equipment and so on.
They most likely have a warehouse, or more than one, and may have locations in more than one city or state. They have the staff to pick up merchandise and accept deliveries from clients, and handle the shipping for sold items. They may work like a consignment shop and take a percentage of the sales price or a flat fee from the client, or they may buy the merchandise outright – which would give them extra incentive to maximize profits.
They may also have some of their staff devoted solely to dealing with eBay-related issues like comparison shopping to find the best starting prices for their items; writing and posting polished listings; taking eye-catching photographs; and keeping up with any policy changes.
